Footballers get ready to light up Powerleague Posted On 16 July 2021

Company continues expansion by taking over new sites

It may not be coming home – well, not for a little while anyway – but the appetite for all things football has been given a massive boost this week.

With memories of England’s European 2020 heroics still fresh in the memory and a new season just around the corner, players in the region have been heartened by reports that a major football centre is to be given a new lease of life.

Powerleague have stepped in to take over the PlayFootball site with immediate effect, safeguarding the jobs of the existing employees at the site near Stopsley High School. They have also taken control of similar centres in Colchester and Bury, with two more additions to their portfolio expected soon.

The new owners say they expect to make significant upgrades to the centre in St Thomas’ Road in Luton, with plans for new LED lighting as well as their exclusive Power Pitch, which they label the best artificial playing surface in the industry.

Footballers will also have access to the new Powerleague app, which launched this year, and staff will have updated software at their fingertips.

The company’s CEO, Christian Rose, told Luton Today: “This site acquisition is a huge step for us, and we’re delighted that we can bring Powerleague to everybody in Luton.

“We know how important these facilities are to so many. After a long and difficult pandemic for everybody, it is so important to us that we are able to offer players an opportunity to return safely to the health and social activities that they enjoy.

“We’re so proud of our small-sided football facilities and we know how beneficial it can be for physical health and mental well-being.”

Anyone wishing to join Powerleague or book a pitch should go to www.powerleague.co.uk.
